FileMaker Overview: Number Functions
If you're the type of person who's into Math, then you probably know when you need to use Factorial() versus Exp() versus Div(). Inevitably, you're a better mathematician than I. My use of the Number functions extends to how useful they can be when you're creating your FileMaker user interface and solving workflow related problems.
When it comes to FileMaker's Number functions, there are number of tricks I've picked up over the years from those who are much smarter at the "math part" than I am. For the most part, the functions are there when you need them and are obviously useful when your required solution deals with math.
In this video, I go through the Number functions and talk about when and how I've used them. Which ones I've used the most and what you can do with them.

Unprepared video
Matt... I'm really disappointed with this video. Lately your videos come across ‘off the cuff’, ill prepared and disjointed. You should have researched these functions before you started filming the video and further you should have provided a well prepared demonstration on how each of these functions work.
"Off the cuff", yes. "Ill prepared"... probably not.
I appreciate the feed back, but I think I made it pretty clear that math is not my strong suit. Showing someone how to use Div, Exp or Factorial functions isn't the most exciting thing in the world. As I mentioned, if you're working with those functions to solve specific math problems then you likely know what you're using them for. I'll have to defer to the help docs and specific math problems which call for their use.
However, when it comes to my personal use of the Number functions in terms of everyday use, I think I did a pretty good job of providing some useful knowledge. Please don't misinterpret my willingness to make mention of the fact that I don't find myself proficient in the area of math as being ill prepared.
Hopefully, there was something new that everyone can get from the video. If you are looking for deeper coverage of each and every single function, then it would take a lot more time and examples than the amount of time I afford each video.
Many apologies if this video doesn't seem like it's up to the normal standards. I'm always open to suggestions and feedback regarding topics subscribers would like to see.

Another fun off the cuff
Another fun off the cuff video, great to see problem solving on the fly! I will almost never use square root if I have to there is always the help page. Great use of the let function in the Data Viewer. Clever use of MOD and Ceiling.
The LET Function
Hi Matt,
Watched a lot of your videos, your my FM Guru, learned almost everything I know about FM from you. THX a lot for this.
Here my question, I saw when U type fmlet at the beginning of your video U get a nice template on how your Let function is displayed. Think U explained this somewhere on youtube but cant find this anymore, how can I get this too?
Talking about getting all the variables up then new line and then the expression and son on...thx in advance for the answer..
