A FileMaker (Pre) Devcon PodcastPosted by: Editor / Friday, June 13, 2008 – 5:51pm

We were in my office messing around and I said "Hey, lets talk about the Devcon sessions". That's how it all started. We (Stephen Dolenski and myself -Matt Petrowsky) sat down and simply talked about the topics to be covered at the 2008 Devcon for FileMaker. Knowing nothing about their actual content (we're guessing on most), and more about who was offering it, we talk about pretty much every session. If you've got an hour and fifteen to kill, then pop your ear canals open for a bit and take a listen. It's an MP3, so you'll have to download (sorry no iTunes yet), but it may be worth it. You may even find a few FileMaker tips in there. This was just for fun and not really planned, but tell us if you like it - or hate it! Details: Released - 6/13/2008 / Size - / Length - 77 min

. Wow, this is certainly a long one but worth every minute. It would be really helpful if you would upload a summary of the sessions that you recommend. Apple actually allows the Developer Connection attendees to add the sessions they want to attend directly into their calendar. That would be a great thing to add to Devcon even if it may go beyond your realm. Anyway, thanks a lot for a really great program that makes it much easier for attendees to decide on which sessions to attend. Best regards, Ralf . . Devcon Schedule....

. Hi this is Stephen, I completely forgot to mention that you can keep track of your sessions and schedule by using the FMPug 2008 Devcon Schedule. Although intended for the iPhone it will work on any browser. Check it out, http://www.fmpug.com/devcon/ This utility will provide you the time and location of each session, in addition to full description of the session and speaker bio's. You will also be able to mark sessions that you will be attending. Also there will be a people locator and map so you can track your friends. In kindness, Stephen . . Creating Help documentation the easy way.

. Regarding the conference on creating a help solution for your Filemaker solutions. I want to share my experience with Helplogic (Mac and Win), which I now use to create user documentation for all my solutions. Helplogic allows you to arrange HTML help files in a TOC structure and then publish to HTML, PDF or Apple or Windows help formats. The best part is that when you are done, you have the help docs available inn all these formats just by clicking a button. I use the Web Viewer to integrate the HTML versions directly in Filemaker and I print the PDF's. Works great. Here is a link: http://www.ebutterfly.com/helplogic/ P.S. I don't work there, I just love the product :) Cheers, Andreas EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to compliment you on the podcast. Great stuff and lots of useful tips in there. Keep it up ;) . |
